This is a volunteer-based health organization dedicated to assisting people who have had or will have intestinal or urinary diversions, whether internal ('continent') or resulting in an external stoma. It offers several services: online Discussion Board; the Phoenix Magazine (four issues per year by subscription); 250 local affiliates providing preoperative and postoperative patient visiting and support; ostomy and continent procedure publications; advocacy activities; liaison to other health care organizations; national and regional conferences (alternate years) and a national and international network.
