The Architectural Barriers

The ABA requires access to facilities
designed, built, altered, or leased with Federal funds. The Access Board develops and maintains accessibility guidelines
under this law. These guidelines serve as the basis for the standards used to
enforce the law, the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS).
From the Access Board, new guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA).
The text of the Act.
This document presents uniform standards for the design, construction and
alteration of buildings so that physically handicapped persons will have ready
access to and use of them in accordance with the Architectural Barriers Act, 42
U.S.C. 4151-4157.
